We’re delighted to share that students from St. Brigid’s Primary School have joined our urban beekeeping initiative as part of a new education partnership. Last Friday, a group of curious young beekeepers visited our hive site on Thomas Street to learn all about the lives of honeybees and the importance of pollinators in our city.
With the help of our volunteers and a professional beekeeper, the students got a chance to see inside an active hive, spot the queen (yes, they found her!), and even sample some fresh, locally harvested honey. Their excitement was infectious — and their questions kept us on our toes!
This visit marks the beginning of a new Pollinator Education Programme we’ll be rolling out with local schools over the coming months. Through hands-on visits, classroom talks, and pollinator-friendly planting projects, we hope to inspire the next generation of urban ecologists.
If you're part of a school or youth group and would like to get involved, please reach out — we’d love to welcome you to one of our hive sites soon!
