We're thrilled to announce the installation of a brand new beehive as part of our Inner City Urban Beekeeping Project! Nestled on a rooftop near The Digital Hub, this latest addition brings our total number of active hives in the city to five — and counting.
The hive was installed earlier this week by our volunteer team, with support from local community members and urban ecology experts. The bees have already begun to settle in, and if all goes well, we expect them to start producing honey later this summer.
Why beekeeping in the city? Urban environments — surprisingly — can offer excellent conditions for bees: diverse flowering plants, fewer pesticides, and warmer microclimates. Our project not only supports vital pollinators but also aims to reconnect Dubliners with nature, even in the densest parts of the city.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming Hive Open Day, where you’ll be able to meet the beekeepers, learn about pollination, and maybe even suit up to see the bees in action!
Together, we’re making Dublin a little greener, one hive at a time.
